Open Provider Time
I'm trying to get a handle on how much time our providers are available but are not scheduled with a patient. Under Setup->Automation click Add. Then select the following options:
Trigger: BreakAppointment
Action: CreateCommlog
CommType: ApptRelated
Message: Broken Appointment Reason:
Then when an appointment is broken a commlog will automatically popup and they can enter the reason in the note field.

I highly recommend using the exam sheet.... Before sheets were an option we used autonotes for exams. The part we didn't like is that you had to go through all the prompts at once and couldn't pause or go back and finish it later - and there were so many prompts. When an appointment is broken it should automaticaly prompt you to enter an adjustment (PTF can be the default) which will show in the account module. The way you run the reports depends on what type of accounting method you use - cash or accrual. As a non-profit we do accrual accounting and have to book the write-off on the date of service, not the date the payment is received. I think most dental offices use cash accounting though.

Fee bug
When the primary provider is set to a hidden provider, the fees billed are the insurance estimates instead of the fee schedule assigned to the hidden provider. I know that the primary provider should be changed prior to treatment planning, but it's not always happening. Version 7.6.37.

I like the Brother MFC's - you can get most of them with wireless and ethernet cards. I too am steering clear of HP's after years of frustration.
The wireless connection in a printer is different than a wireless mouse and keyboard - once it's setup there's no resynching needed.

Here's a workaround that we use in our office for automatic discounts.
