I tried setting up a back up server so I can switch over to it if my main server crashes but I got a "the expected version was not found in this file" error.
How do I get around this? Thank you.

Re: Windows 10 home or pro?
Is there a connection limit with the home edition vs the pro edition? I'm not sure whether to spend $99 more to upgrade to the pro.

Windows 10 home or pro?
I realized that two of the new all in one computers that I bought upgraded to Windows 10 home edition. Any problems with this and Open Dental? We have 7 computers total including the server. I've been having some connectivity issues on the network and thought about upgrading the two of the computers...

Eaglesoft Image Conversion
On the conversion page I saw that for Eaglesoft imaging you guys recommend to use Apteryx to convert the files and then Open Dental will put the images into the folders. Has anyone done this before? I'm getting tired of maintaining two databases. Eaglesoft is a pain to maintain as it seems much more...

Re: Open Dental Shutting Down During Backup
The backup drive was not full. I noticed that my network was set as a public profile. I changed it to private setting and that seemed to correct the problem. The backup's are going through just fine now. Thanks.

Open Dental Shutting Down During Backup
During the backup procedure open dental is shutting down unexpectedly. No error messages. It is shutting down right after A~Z folder is 99% done. When I checked the A~Z folder the back up did not happen. I had three people try and help but the problem still persists. 1st - Solution was that Window's...

upgrade fee
I have two offices. One of the offices i'm on support for $99 a month. My other office hasn't been on support for a while. I would like to update the software though. I think I read somewhere on the website that I have to sign up for a minimum of 3 months for a update. Will this be at $99 a month or...

Webroots Secure Anywhere
I'm currently using Webroots Secure Anywhere. Does anyone else have any experience with this antivirus software? Its very compact and doesn't seem to effect system performance.

Built in Backup Question
This question is regarding the built in backup application on open dental. If I press the back up button during the middle of the day when everyone is using the open dental server what happens? Does it backup 100% without any problems? I'm going to assume that the server will slow down a bit but wil...

Another Back Up Question
I have setup Syncback Pro SE (i guess similar to Karen's Replicator) to mirror the main server C:\mysql\data to the back up server C:\mysql\data. I set the frequency every 15 minutes. I have heard about the possibility of locked tables and such on the back up. What is a locked table btw? It seems be...

MySql question
I have a main server and a backup server. Is it absolutely required that you turn off MySQL on the backup server? All the computers are pointing to the main opendental database. I've read on the forums that people turn off the MySQL on the backup server but I was wondering if this was more of a safe...

syncback question
I'm currently using Syncback SE on my server to move my backup files around and to save it to drop box.
I have the profile on "mirrored" going from source to destination. Should I have the file on "backup" instead?
Wasn't exactly sure what the difference was.

getting a strange error message
Having a problem with eaglesoft, opendental and scanners right now. I finally got the scanner to work smoothly on open dental. But when I thought all is well I got a strange error message right after scanning with opendental. OpenDental.exe caused EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION <Unknown> at Ox4f4c4149 T...

Upgrading from Eagle Soft
I am thinking of upgrading from Eaglesoft. We have Schick sensors. Anyone can give an approximate cost of upgrading to open dental? I would like to keep the current sensors but I guess that would mean I would need to get the patterson imaging software. I have no idea the cost involved in this proces...

Server recommendation
I am looking at servers and was wondering how much harddrive capacity i should look for. I have no idea how much space it takes for digital x-rays for patients. We have a small practice but is adding about 10 patients a month. Will 500gb do it? Also is it necessary for the server to run on windows 2...

Problem restoring from an old version of opendental
I bought an office that was running an old version of open dental. version 5.x.x.x.x.x. I did a back up from that computer and tried to restore it on my laptop that is running the trial version of opendental. I have not figured out how to make this work. The folder names seem to be different. The ve...
