Open Dental automatically changes surface order
Open Dental automatically changes surface order
Anyone know why Open Dental automatically changes the surface order from DO to OD? For example, a 2-surface posterior composite on tooth 14, if you use the "DO" quick button in the chart, it automatically gets reversed to "OD." If you open the procedure and edit the surfaces back to "DO," when you hit OK, it changes back to "OD" again. This doesn't happen with "MO."

I think it does that because it is "OD" (OpenDental) :p

Re: Open Dental automatically changes surface order
Because the surfaces get processed internally. For example, lowercase surfaces would be fixed, duplicate surfaces would be removed, invalid surfaces would be removed. A side effect of the processing is that they always end up in the same order: MODBL. And the reason we don't try to maintain the DO is because it just doesn't matter.

OK, that makes sense. I agree it shouldn't matter, but someone preferred the "DO" order and asked about it.
