I'm having a problem with the correct provider being set to treatment planned items. When a patient is scheduled for an exam with a specific provider I expected the items entered that day would be assigned to that scheduled provider. It seems that it's always using whomever is setup as the default provider for that patient, rather than the scheduled provider. Is the only option to verify/change the default provider every time a patient is scheduled for an exam? What if you want the default to stay as is but another dentist fills in for some reason on that day? I think the treatment plan needs to accurately reflect who is doing the treatment planning.
Also, there's no easy way to change the provider after the fact - I had to edit each treatment planned item individually which is time consuming when the treatment plans are lengthy. Selecting multiple procedures and choosing "edit all" from the context menu only allows you to change the date, not the provider.
Anyone else have a problem with this? Or don't you set a default provider for patients?

Re: Treatment Plan Provider
You generally don't worry too much about the provider for treatment planned items. When you set an appointment complete, it automatically changes all the providers on the procedures according to the provider for the appointment. So just get your appointment provider correct, and it will flow down. And I believe (but am not able to check right now) that when you add procedures to an appointment, it also changes the providers on the procedures even if they are just TP status. So your question makes me wonder if you are actually attaching procedures to appointments.

Re: Treatment Plan Provider
Yes, we are attaching procedures to appointments - so the provider that completes the procedures is correct. But with the large number of providers we have in our practice we find it important to know who did the treatment plan for the patient. Perhaps that could be added as a field in the saved treatment plan and any procedures on the treatment plan would be updated with that provider code? Or else could the provider dropdown be available in the "Enter treatment" tab of the chart so you could choose the provider when treatment planning items? Since we mail our treatment plans out for authorization we'd like to have the dentist name on either the cover letter of the treatment plan. I'll add as a feature request, if that sounds reasonable.
