In my list of procedures I have adult prophy set up as 45 minutes all (XXX) all provider time. If we add bitewings to the appointment, the Time Bar Calculation changes to (/X/). I can't get the calculation to stay at (XXX) automatically. So the front desk has to manually reset the slide bar to (XXX) everytime they schedule a hygiene appointment with bitewings. Especially if they want to search for the next available. I think that this is a glitch in the way the provider time is calculated. Is there a way to set this up so the time is calculated based on the longest procedure on the appointment as the overide???
Also the appointment is booked by the chairtime in my office not the provider time.
If the slide bar is not correctly set the search engine for the next available appointment doesn't function correctly because it searches based on provider time, not chair time. It would not matter how the provider time was set up in an individual appointment if the search engine searched for chair time instead of provider time.
I find that I have more time in my office than the chairs do, since the chair is the rate limiting function of patient flow it seems to me this would be a better way to search for available time???
Not sure if this makes sense to anyone else, this hasn't been an issue in the past but now my office is getting busier and we noticed the search funtion was not working for us.
Thanks.

It's working like it was designed to work. Yes, improvements could certainly be made. Yes, we also need to have two different types optimization, one for offices that schedule by chairtime, and one for offices that schedule by provider time. It's currently only optimized for provider time. So yes, if the chair is the rate limiting variable, than I don't think the search function will work very well for you. I would suggest until we add that feature, that you switch to week view, and visually scan for a slot. That should work great.
