from what little i think i know, there is a "mutually exclusive" setting (somewhere) that designates each patient as either "prophy" or "perio" for their recall designation.
now, after a year of using OD, we are looking to start actually USING the recall system, and have noticed that recalls can be triggered by designated procedures (eg, SRP procedures can be set to trigger 3 month PMT recall)
but there doesn't seem to be an efficient way to switch (in bulk) those patients who (because of tx history) should be set to "perio".
i could probably drum up an sql list of patients who would qualify as appropriate to change, but i haven't any idea of what to do after that, and i am ready to assume that there is mischief in the whole idea.
maybe if i understood how it works a little better. the instructions are clear, but they don't peel back the layers to show us how it works.

Re: change large numbers of recall from prophy to perio
The 'flag' is the presence of a recall of one of those two types. Off the top of my head, I think the checkbox in the patient recall window that toggles them from one kind to another deletes the existing recall and adds one of the other type. Yes, there is danger in any manipulation of the database outside our user interface. Once you have generated your list of types that you would like to change, have a staff person go in and change them manually.
