Oh boy. I just had the strangest conversation with Emdeon. I had signed up for ERA thinking I could download the 835 file from their website and parse and post myself, but no dice. Apparently I don't have access to that information directly and it seems that I need to have the file downloaded from within OD. Has there been any thought/discussion about this? I would really like to get moving on this as soon as possible, but I am not sure which direction to take. Should I keep grinding Emdeon for direct access? Should I build this functionality into OD? Can OD download the file for me? Should I use a different clearing house?
thanks,
david

Re: ANSI 835....
There is no other dental software that gives users direct access like we do, so it confuses the heck out of them. Emdeon doesn't want to step on our toes and interfere with one of our possible revenue streams. I told them no problem, but then they have to consider the hassle factor of dealing with one user.

Re: ANSI 835....
DentalXChange has the ability to receive the 835 files and post them to your ClaimConnect account for download. Once you've downloaded them, Open Dental could be programmed to read in and post the data. (or maybe already can?)
Hope this helps,

Re: ANSI 835....
I believe Emdeon Dental (WebMD) might support 835s now if they did not in the past. I do not know of another customer who has tried this yet (perhaps because nobody has informed me), but the files should come back into the WebMD reports folder. In which case, make sure that the Report Path in Open Dental is pointing to the WebMD reports folder and 835s should start importing automatically.
Additionally, see the bottom of the troubleshooting section on our ClaimConnect page for details regarding how to import an 835 manually. http://opendental.com/manual/eclaimsclaimconnect.html. ClaimConnect is in the process of building a web service that Open Dental can use to automatically import 835s in the future.
