Mobile Version error

Post by dentalguru » Tue May 11, 2010 12:04 am

Hi Dr Jordan,
Unable to load data on to mobile version of OD
Using OD -7.0.3.0
Using HTC touch Diamond- wiindows OS-6.5-Professional PPC version
Using-for the processor- ( same as your demo)-Qualcomm MSM7201A, 528 MHz.

using Sql server compact 3.5 -sqlce.ppc.wce5.armv4i,sqlce.dev.ENU.ppc.wce5.armv4i ,
1. I able to install everything - and open the od mobile version on the PPC and as expected all the feilds are empty.
Now i need to sync to import the xml file generated. That too goes on smooth and imported XML - 3mbfile and then I opent the OD on mobile
OD is able to find the file and conversion begins - And I am asked to ait 6 min for the procedure to complete then- Error- OVer FLow Exeption.
Pl let me Know how to handle this.
2.Previously as i was trying to generate the XML file I got the error on JIT-System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'E:\My Documents\HTC emulator My Documents\Business\Open Dental\in1.xml'.
so i changed the file path and Created another Opendental.exe file to generate the same. But all others will not be able to handle the same.
Thanking you in anticipaton

Maybe it ran out of memory? I would actually suggest a remote access software like GoToMyPC instead of trying to muddle through our mobile version. I've never been happy with the database support available on the mobile device. I also got fed up with my phone because it was too big and it didn't have actual buttons for navigating through phone systems. So I gave up on the platform basically.

I don't understand #2. Sounds like the path was simply wrong. Or are you saying you compiled the Open Dental program? Are you sure you were not running it in debug mode?

Hi there Dr Jordan,
- That was not actually a direct memory overflow. I realised the conversion indeed got completed but then for some unknown reason the the conversion started all over again.
This kept happening so long as the xml file was present in the Opendental folder of the mobile. So i deleted the same and now it OD MObile version is running well. Almost, thats because of its tendency to frequently hang the PPC needing a reset.
-2.IF the path was indeed wrong and was not able to be located you would get a red alert to the same that only disappears when the path is corrected. This was happening after the procedure was initiated and then you got this errror - JIT-System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'E:\My Documents\HTC emulator My Documents\Business\Open Dental\in1.xml'. I ran through the codes located this one and also changed that to the path that i was using and then copiled a new .exe. NO it was not on Debug mode . Pl check the codes on different machines where the above path is invalid to duplicate the error.
Thanks for all

1. The xml file was not getting deleted properly, huh?
2. I'm getting closer to understanding. This was in the mobile application itself, not in the main Open Dental program, right? You say you located a problem in the code. Can you possibly give me the filename and line number?

HI Dr Jordan,
Sorry for the delay in responding,
1. I dont know if the XML file needs to get deleted but so long as one is present it keeps converting, until a overflow exception is thrown. I have solved the problem for now by deleting the file.
2. As far as the file and line number is concerned i think the best option would be to search for the word "emulator" its being used only once in the solution so it would not be difficult to locate the same on a search.
thanks for everything
bye
