OD in a DOMAIN

Does anyone here run Open Dental inn a DOMAIN? if so, I have a question.

Imagine a real-life scenario where an assistant takes X-Rays, leaves Open Dental and XDR (say) running and leaves the room. The screensaver kicks in after one minute and needs a password to be unlocked. The doctor enters a few minutes later. In our WORKGROUP we have a common username for all staff, USER123. The doctor, knowing this, can unlock the screensaver and get to the same screen the assistant left running a moment ago.

1. Is there a more elegant way to implement this in a DOMAIN? Should we simply create a common account like USER123 to be used in ops only? Or should we require the assistant to save her work and log off?

2. Is Windows Small Business Server Essentials 2011 a good choice?

In Open Dental there is a security checkbox to close Open Dental whenever Windows logs out. Yes, many users are on a domain, including me.

Didn't know about the security checkbox. Just activated it. However, it's not going to help when someone leaves the room and the screensaver or power saver kicks in and the computer locks.

Why not? You can set your screensaver to force a Windows logon before resuming. So when the screensaver kicks in, it should be just like a forced log out. Also, in version 11.0, we have an automatic timed logout.

Version 11??? When I click on Update, the latest one to show is 7.9.13. Do you mean 7.9.11?
I don't see any option to allow the screensaver to force a log off (Windows XP Pro). How do you do it?

After 7.9, the next version is going to be based on the year.

So, the next version is 11.0 for the first one with this new numbering system in 2011.

In a Domain does OpenDentalImages folder still have to be accessible to 'Everyone'?

I'm afraid so. One alternative solution is to store images in the database, but there's no tool yet for moving existing images into the database or later moving images out of the database. We've considered some other options, like ftp. But I think the only way to have the security be meaningful would be to have an image "server" program which would handle requests for images as well as incoming images.
