Lab cases attached to Patient Note

Post by Hersheydmd »

On occasion I will have a lab case that I need back for me to check or do something and then send it back out again before the patient's next appt. There isn't an actual appointment to attach it to, so I create a patient note to attach it to on the day I need it back.
Shouldn't the Appt Module window show the status of the case (received or not received) whether it is attached to a Patient Note on that day or an actual appointment on that day? It doesn't. Cases that are attached to Patient Notes don't trigger the "Not Received" flag in the Appt Module window.

I would suggest attaching it to an actual blank appointment. The appointment can have a dummy provider or show in a dummy operatory so that it's clear that it's not a real appointment.

I tried that. But then, the patient get's an e-mail/text reminder/confirmation about an appointment that doesn't exist.
Why does the patient note have the Lab Case button? Attaching it to a Patient Note would make the most sense.

This is an old thread, but unanswered.
When I have a lab case made in a chart with no exisiting future appointment, the case does no appear in the Lab Cases list. Shouldn't it?

I just checked and you are correct. A case due back tomorrow, attached to a pt note, does not show in the list of Lab Cases, and it hasn't triggered the "Not Received" warning.
I agree with you. It should. It's one of the rare deficiencies in the program.
