Receipts

Post by sandi »

Can I ask how far up the request list is printable receipts for cash payments rather than overall account statements? In Europe patients are used to getting a receipt for payments received. Many Thanks

I think it's on the request list, but I can't give any kind of estimate on when it might be done.

Right. And if we add a "receipt" feature, it will probably be a minor tweak of the options in that window.

I would welcome the option of being able to give a receipt from within Open Dental.
Not being able to give a receipt, is one of the current shortcomings of the software as per our requirements as well.
I would also like to add here that the receipt should have:
a)Unique Receipt Number
b)Patient's name & open dental account/chart number
c)Date of payment
d) Amount paid
e)Amount paid in cash/cheque/card
f) cutomizable currency symbol
g) Printable via POS printers
h) POS printer capable - office logo/address, doctors name

How do you print just today's payment and not an entire statement? To which drop down box are you referring?

You don't see the little drop-down arrow next to the Statement button?

I guess you must be referring to a "walkout statement." I didn't realize that is what was meant above.

Now I'm using the sheets feature to create my own receipt. The downside is that there is no unique receipt number. Anyway that I can add it in

"statement" is a database table. As such, every statement has a unique primary key which users don't normally see. In the end, receipts and invoices will probably end up just being special kinds of statements. It's going to take some work to move statements over to sheets, but in the meantime we could make that primary key visible. So then you would:
1. Create a statement.
2. Look at the primary key.
3. Create a sheet for the receipt.
4. Type the statement number into a spot on the receipt.

Why not just have a box with running numbers eg like signature box so that we can add that into the sheets. Creating our own receipts is easy the only thing lacking is the unique running number.

OK, simpler suggestion. We will get the number from the sheet primary key. It will be automatic. It won't be sequential because of all the other kinds of sheets that will use numbers. Or is it a requirement that it be sequential?

I don't think its necessary for the numbers to be sequential. How can I add in that feature?

I have edited the description of feature request #308 to include this discussion.
