Hello, my name is Anthony and I'm new to the forum. I have been playing with the trial version of OD and have configured the Web Service, however when I try to make the connection from a workstation/client, I receive an invalid user or password. I am using root with no passwordto test this. The credentials are also set in the xml file as well. Any ideas as to what I could be missing?
Thanks in advance

Re: Web Service Question
First, let me point out that very few users attempt the web service. I'm curious why you think you need it. But having said this, in answer to your question, all I can suggest is to go through the instructions one more time looking closely for errors. It also helps if you are already very familiar with MySQL and with IIS.

Re: Web Service Question
Dr. Sparks,
I run a technology consulting firm. I have clients in the healthcare vertical market, including dentists. I am familiar with many of the practice management software packages and am always testing features. I was simply looking to test the webservice feature of Open Dental. I would consider using this as a way to access the application remotely, or to offer it as a cloud product, obvioulsy with additional security measures in place such as SSL. I can always go the Terminal Services route or web-enable it if need be. I just wanted to test the feature since it was offered. I have read thru the instructions several times and am very familiar with both MySQL and IIS. The connection is made, but for some reason it will not accept the credentials. I have even tried creating additional user accounts and using them and none of them worked. Just wondering if someone has run into the same problem and there is a workaround or something not documented.
Thanks,
Anthony

Re: Web Service Question
No, I can't think of anything. My best guess is that the mysql user is set up wrong.
