Windows 8 / Patterson Imaging error

I installed windows 8 on one of our machines and we have patterson imaging bridged through and I got the following error:

" The patterson imaging INI bridging File "C:\PattersonImaging.INI" could not be generated. Please be sure you have the proper read/write permissions and retry the operation"

I think its with windows 8 protecting the C:\ from anyone writing files directly to c:\, I am hoping someone on the board uses patterson and has a solution or I will have to downgrade new computers to Windows 7.

Does PattersonImaging.ini have to be in the root folder?
Can you set it to be in a subfolder whose permissions you can change?

Solved the problem. I created a blank file in notepad named Patterson imaging.Ini and copied it over to c: with administrative privileges and now it works fine.
