Paragon Dental - PPO reports

Post by jonesrdh » Thu Mar 20, 2014 8:56 am

The Paragon rep said she was pretty certain Open Dental had a way of running this info in a report but I can't find it.

We are trying to run some reports to anylize our insurance reimbursment rates.

We have diferentiated specific write offs to be listed so that the insurance provider is tagged to that but we only started doing this Jan 1, 2014. We are just going to go from that day forward to anylize.

In an excel type document we are hoping to capture the following data.

1. Is there a way of running a report to show only the insurance plans used in a specific time period?

We ran a report but it listed all insurances we ever used on all patients even non current.

2. A report or total tally of all gross charges billed to insurance for a specific time frame broken up by insurance carrier.

3. A report that calculates all write offs grouped by insurance carrier. We were able to run a write off report under the daily reports but it lists each patient individually by date of procedure or date of claim processed. Can we see the data by payor?

4. Is it possible to run a report that shows patient payments categorized by what insurance carrier they have?

5. Is it possible to run a report to show the total number of patients on each insurance plan

The excel format report we are hoping to use should show the following columns. I wasn't sure if you knew of a way to pull all of this data into one report of if each report can be run and we manually do the entering and the math.

Column 1 Carrier Name

Column 2 Gross Production

Column 3 Insurance Paid

Column 4 % Insurance Paid

Column 5 Adjustment

Column 6 % adjusted

Column 7 Patient Payment

Column 8 Total Compensation paid to office

Column 9 % of Gross Production Paid to office

Column 10 # of patient's on plan

Column 11 % of Patient's on plan

Almost anything is possible for sure. I think a report can be built with that information, but it would take me a little while to put that all together. I know you can order custom reports from Open Dental for a small fee. I'll look at what I have and see if there's something close to get started with.

For clarification, how detailed do you want the report to be? Example, do you want Delta Dental to be split into each state's Delta Dental or just summarized under Delta? Also, do you have your PPO fee schedules setup (assuming you are PPO for some insurances)? Also, when you say % adjusted are you talking about write-offs or all types of adjustments?

Have you taken a look at the PPO Writeoffs report that is built in to the system? It's not exactly what you are asking for, however it is a good starting point for you (I think). This report hinges on the assumption that you are setting up your PPO plans with the PPO Plan Type and assigning the fee schedules.
The PPO Writeoffs report can be run for a date range and gives you a list of patients, carriers, providers, UCR Fee, PPO Fee and writeoffs.
As Kevin says, with queries, reports can get as detailed as the data allows. If you would like a custom report, we do offer custom programming (report writing) starting at $90 (depends on the complexity of the report in question).
