Web Based yet?
Just checking to see if a web based version was being developed.

Re: Web Based yet?
We are writing the design documents. The planning and first version will take weeks. The end result will be a login screen and one or two lists, like probably and appointments and patients. It's not going to blow your socks off or anything. We are currently estimating 5 years for the feature set of the web version to overtake and pass that of the desktop version.

Let me know when you want a Beta tester. I do need a couple more things....a few codes, ability to have a Rx Database, Tx notes. I am glad to hear you are doing this. Do you plan to host it or will it be hosted by my website for instance? I use a broad band card in my laptop through Verizon. It would be nice to access through the internet and have offices be able to access records to download via office specific password. It would make it easiest for the way I practice to have the other offices go through my website. Still, I know 4 dentists in Texas that practice like I do so I am not sure how many would sign up for something like this. I did see a PBS news hour this evening that presented a company that did this for medicine.
As always thanks for all you do Jordan!

The security is the hard part. ALL connections will be forced to be SSL, so encrypted. That will make it slightly harder for you to set up your own web server. But yes, it will be on your web server, not ours. Later, we will start to offer it on ours.

Dr. Jordan,
I know it is very early days but it would be great if the web version will be smartphone/iphone compatible....especially the appointment and patient information lookup module.
With other technologies such as logmein, gotomypc, etc...that is available now to the office users by itself, I see a diminishing need for web interface but yes, it would be helpful for new patient form, letting patient manage their information (to a certain extent)...etc might be helpful.
According to me, the web version could compliment the desktop version features. Again, just my .02 cents
Cheers,

Re: Web Based yet?
This is true about remote access seemingly diminishing the need for a web version....
I find it hard to believe a web version could be as capable as a desktop version, but with technology always changing, anything is possible! With logmein and such, it basically is web accessible to us. Would the web version be something our patients would access more or do you really think it will completely replace the desktop version on our computers?
Now the great benefit I see to a web version, is it eliminates relying on a specific OS to run. (Although you still have to have drivers for digital x-ray, scanners, etc....do you think we will ever get away from windows?)

Has anyone viewed the technology being released by Apple for the I-phone? You should check out the new software roadmap for the iphone. It includes the entire SDK and a developers software that makes the adaption of your current software very easy. They have epocrates and many other companies that adapted their programs in a matter of days because the software made it so easy. You could be the first and only software company that is on I-phone. They release the software update to all I-phone users in a couple of months.
Please Jordan or some other programmer, watch the link. I think you will be shocked at what they are doing. And no, you don't have to be apple based to do it. It uses a SQL and exchange server. Check out the link.
http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/ this is for the sdk and programmer information
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/iphoneroadmap/ this is for the presentation -- you can see how it works and how other companies have written apps for the phone in a short amount of time. Go to 44:00 minutes and you will see the companies writing for their existing apps.
Tell me what you think.
