As I review the information of the employee time card, I want to understand the difference between the two different hours represented at the bottom to the time sheet where it indicates two different columns with two different 'total hours' for 'Regular Time'. The column on the right does not indicate why of what the different number represents. The differences are very slight but Dr. wants to understand.

Time card
Re: Time card
15 minutes is 0.25 of an hour
6 hrs 15 minutes = 6.25 hours
that's what you see in these 2 columns
you multiply 6.25 X hourly rate = payroll due

The time is shown in decimal hours for payroll purposes.
15 minutes = 0.25 hour
30 minutes = 0.50 hour
45 minutes = 0.75 hour
For example:
6 hours and 15 minutes = 6.25 hours
The two columns show the hours worked in this decimal format. To calculate the payroll amount due, simply multiply the total decimal hours by the employee's hourly rate.
Example: someone who worked 6 hours 15minutes
6.25 hours × $32 per hour = $200.00 payroll due
