Payment Process for Invisalign in a General Dentist Office..

Post by opensource »

Hello Dr. Jordan / Team,

What is the best process for sending a claim and recording a payment for 'Invisalign' Treatment. As you might already know, the insurance carrier sends payment in installments against one claim that is sent at the beginning of the treatment.

The key challenge is that we need to know how much will be paid in total by the Patient vs the Insurance carrier. I have tried to explore the feasibility of using the 'Payment Plans' (about 2 years ago) but had challenges with that process because of the un-certainity as to the exact amounts that the insurance carrier will be paying in each installment.

Any thoughts / ideas on what is the best process to record the payments such that the account reflects the correct status at any given time.

Cheers,

So you are saying initially you do not know how much insurance is going to pay? But then when you receive the first payment they should be telling you exactly how much they are going to pay and how often. Also you probably should be sending preauthorizations to get a quote from them how much they will pay before the patient has the treatment completed.

Payment plans does have a feature for payment plans expected from insurance. And if the amount changes, the payment plan can be changed easily.
