Planned Appointment/Unscheduled Appointment

Post by DavidWolf »

Version 6.3.12.0

Here is an interesting scenario:
You make a planned appointment with procedures attached.
The appointment is cancelled and sent to unscheduled.
The patient comes to their next scheduled recall appointment and wants to schedule the procedure they cancelled.
You cannot pinboard and use the previously planned appointment from the chart module without getting an error that one or more procedures could not be scheduled because they were already attached to another appointment. Someone probably forgot to update the Next appointment in the chart module.

Shouldn't the original planned appointment know that it is on the unscheduled list?????

Yes, probably. You could submit a request.

I really think it is more of a bug than an enhancement.

There's another thread that is discussing a very similar issue. I think you may be using the unscheduled list more heavily than OD was designed to handle.

Got it. Maybe we should just be deleting the cancelled appointments instead of sending them to unscheduled? This would bypass the glitch, but what is the unscheduled list supposed to be used for???

Can you post the link to the other thread?

Thanks.

The Unscheduled List is to keep track of patients that cancel and don't reschedule or do not show for appointment. It is the same idea as the Planned Tracker List except those patients have not yet scheduled there treatment that was planned. Both of these lists together make all of your patients that need treatment done that are not schedule. They are suppose to be used by your Front Desk to add appointments to day's that need more production.

If you delete the appointment after breaking it then you will loose a way to get a reminder to schedule this patient in the future for their treatment. Unless you had created a Planned appointment which then that patient will show up on the Planned Tracker

Right, but if you try to use a planned appointment that has been sent to the unscheduled list it will cause an error message!

I understand the issue. I was just trying to clarify why we have an unscheduled list to answer you question.
