I haven't tried v5.1 yet to see if this is still true on our computers, but since you still have a known issue:
"3D chart refreshes very slowly on some computers." v5.1

Just an idea: since we used v4.2 3D tooth chart flawlessly in our office for about a year on all the computers that now give trouble with the current version...could you just make it an option to use the v4.2 (or similar) code for the tooth chart as one of the graphics options? I am envisioning having two separate code blocks, the current to keep improving and then the option to just use the old method.

I haven't looked at the code to see what this would entail, but I know that v4.2 3D worked on all our computers really fast, even the ones that are really slow now with v5.0.

There's just no way. If only it were that simple. But this issue has moved to the very top of our priority list. We will be investing quite a bit of effort into pinning down how it behaves on a variety of hardware, and making sure it's as fast and flawless as possible. There's really quite a bit going on here. There are very good reasons why we changed it in the first place. Earlier versions were working for most users, but they were also crashing on some computers, a totally unacceptable situation. Expect things to speed up.

yeah, I figured it was pretty complicated. Well, hope you can work it out. I have about 15 Different cards between my office and home, if you need some testing of versions or what kind does what.

I have ATI, nVidia, Intel built in, nVida based off brands, ATI based off brandsknock offs, etc. I find that most work. The funny thing is some 3D cards are slow too (although they are the cheap cards) and I even have a cheapoo emachine with build it graphics and it works great!

As posted in the other forum, this issue has been totally resolved. Should be flawless from here on out.
