We are fairly new to Open Dental...wondering if it is in the plans to be able to name the letters that are created in sheets and the letters that are stored in Images. For example, when we have a patient sign their Financial Policy in sheets, it just shows patient letter in the progress notes. Regarding the images tab, we feel it would be a nice feature to be able to scan in a letter from a specialist and it show in the progress notes as "Dr Generic letter recieved", with the date it was scanned in. Do you forsee any plans to create this possibility?, otherwise you have to constantly look in images to see if anything new came in. Also, maybe the possibility to be able to add a progress note that is not attached to a ada code, so that in the event that we talk to a specialist regarding this patient, we could note the conversation in the progress notes as we would in the chart?? Thanks!

Yes, a description is feature request #758, and I consider it very high priority since it's not that hard to implement.

And it means that we can't give a time estimate. We used to do that, and we were wrong nearly 100% of the time. Sorry.
