Behavior of check box on task list

On the task list: I've noted that when the orange check box is has been checked once, it turns grey and then when clicked again, the task disappears. Is this intended?

IOW, is it intended to just flick on and off like a light switch or to delete the note/task?

it is a progression of status:
1) orange is a status of new
2) blank is viewed
3) done--disappears
