Ive noticed one cant set 0 minutes to be a default time pattern for a procedure. Is this correct and if so its strange as many times something dont need a time length such as when say a suture removal is combined with a post op visit say.

Look at the time calculation logic. If you set each of them for 20 minutes, they will combine to be a total of 20 minutes. So, in effect 20 minutes is equivalent to 0 when combining.

Ive just tried that, it works but no offense unless im missing something thats crazy! If an amalgam is 20 minutes 2 amalgams wouldnt be 20 minutes?

An amalgam wouldn't be 20 minutes. It would be 10 minutes to seat and get numb, 10 minutes to perform, and 10 minutes to carve, finish, give post op instructions, and clean the room. So 30 minutes. The second amalgam would increase that to 40 minutes because only the middle 10 minutes are the actual procedure. Only things that take essentially no time are given 20 minutes. There are feature request for alternative calculation methods, but that usually works very well for most offices. Also, don't forget that you would be creating a planned appointment for this prior to the patient actually scheduling. So it's very easy for the clinical staff to look at the planned appt and make adjustments to it at that time. Then, the front desk doesn't have to know anything at all about how long anything takes. They just schedule from the planned appt.
