Mobile Sync

Post by Hersheydmd »

Does automatic synchronization only occur if OD is left running? It stops when you log off the program?
I have synchronization set-up on my OD server, but I usually close the program when I'm not in the office.
Also, I don't see any need to sync every 10 minutes or so. I set mine up to sync only a couple of times a day, so that I'll have the appt information I need on the weekend.

When accessing the patient's information on my iPhone, there is a blue "dial" next to the phone numbers and the e-mail address is in blue and looks like a link that can be clicked. However, clicking them doesn't do anything. Is it supposed to?

Try holding the blue phone number link until a window pops up with option to dial, text etc.

It worked. Thanks.
Is the Pharmacies list working? It's not working for me.

Pharmacy list just went live today. I haven't had a chance to look at it on the live server yet.

Hi Jordan.
I've spoken to Shannon about this and she passed it on to someone to investigate.
Shouldn't the mobile sync keep syncing even if OD is shut down as long as the computer it is set up on is left on?
I set up mobile sync on my workstation that is also the MySQL server. I keep that machine on 24/7 and use it as a file server. I notice that if I don't keep OD running on that machine, then the auto sync doesn't occur. I can force a manual sync from any other machine, otherwise any changes made on the other machines don't sync to mobile.
Is that the way it is supposed to work, or should I be able to close the OD program on the "server".
Oh, by the way. The pharmacies list still doesn't open on my iPhone.

You do have to leave OD running on the computer where you do automatic synch. I think you can log off of OD as long as you still leave it running. It's pretty clear to me that without a program of some sort always running, there would be no possible way to perform a synch. Is your complaint that you would rather have it be a background service so that it starts automatically and can't be accidentally shut down? That's an extra level of fanciness that we just didn't have time to get into.

No, I just didn't realize that you can log off OD, and leave it running, and the sync will continue to work (you should add that to the manual).
I just didn't want to leave it running with a user logged in. It doesn't have to be a background service. This is fine. Thanks Jordan.
Oh, and BTW. I tried Pharmacies again today and the list still doesn't come up. Do I need to be on a later version of OD for it?

You'll need to be on version 11.0.

No data resides on the phone. We made the decision for it to be entirely web-based to allow tighter security.

wonderful! The problem with data on the phone is if it is lost I end up contacting every pt to tell their personal data is compromised.
