I I am using version 12.3 and would like to purchase a scanner to scan insurance EOB's, Licenses, etc. directly into OD. Can anyone recommend some fast reliable devices.
Thank You Very Much

I'm sure you've already started by looking here first?

Thanks for the responses. What about a small portable scanner? Anyone using one that scans directly to OD?

ditto on the s50, it is awesome. We have two and are considering another one, can't beat the speed for the price. BTW I am happy with a low cost refurbished model I got from epson.com.

I also use a scansnap s1300 which I love, but doesn't scan directly to OD :(

anyone know if the Fujitsu fi-6130Z Duplex Sheet-Fed Document Scanner works well? A lot of offices use it with dentrix and love it, fast, reliable, and scans directly into dentrix, maybe can do the same for open dental....

Fi-6130Z is the scanner... it will scan directly into the OD also... only we had to do workaround is that it has only 1 usb port to split between two desktops at frontdesk.. superfast and supereasy.. aslo we have configured it to scan it on the network drive so anyone in the office can scan it and import in to OD from network drive also..

We have extensive experience with 2 scanners: Fujitsu Scan Snap S1500 (not Twain compliant) and Epson GT-S50 (Twain compliant) and I would have readily recommended the latter to you but for the fact that a third (and in my opinion, better) option (Brother ADS2000, also Twain compliant) has arrived on the horizon. We like it a lot since it is smaller, faster and just works.

I am gonna go with the brother one, just ordered it, fujitsu for almost $800 seems overkill to me

I purchased the Brother ADS-2000 scanner and having nothing but problems, I called open dental tech support and they told me that brother scanners do not work well with open dental, any help or tips to get it working? Everytime I scan in documents it freazes, it was working in the beggining, guess I'll have to purchase a fujitsu scanner....:(

Don't despair. We have been using, as mentioned earlier, the Epson GT-S50 for a long time.
Works great both in and out of OD.

Sorry to hear that. We have had the opposite experience. Brother is rock solid. Epson is flaky with: hardware issues (one died and was replaced, one has pinstripe through scanned page) and software issues (restart, unplug/replug USB). Fujitsu is of course un-useable with OD.
