Noob Question - EMR/EHR

Hi,

I have searched the forum, and can't find an answer I am happy with, so I'm posting it here in teh hope that someone can help.

I am trying to move towards fully-electronic notes, and have already switched to OpenDental since January. I'd like to know if there is a place/button where I can enter notes for the patient visit, OTHER than the treatment done; for example, "sat on mother's lap today, next visit try to sit by himself?"

This should be 'signed' or locked in some way to function as a replacement of my handwritten scrawl - EMR/EHR.

How do I access this feature? (Yes, that is how noob this question is!)

Thanks in advance!

AG

Create a list of No Fee procedure codes,
eg. code N0xx - "Name it whatever you want"
If you want them to stand out in a different color, give them a status of "Condition" when you sign & save them.

Would a NOxx 'no-fee procedure' appear on the statement when I print it out? Does it qualify as an EHR entry?

Just the title of the note with a zero fee will appear on your statement, not the text of the note. Name it something innocuous that you won't mind showing on your statement, eg "child's first visit" or "child management 1".

I would put that particular note in the white box below the graphical tooth chart or else in the Service Notes section of the Medical window.

If you want it signed and all that, put it as a custom procedure like stated above, then instead of completing it, set it's status to existing current, it will then NOT show on the statement.

That's how we do it.
