Open Backup copy without images folder

Post by drmaximus »

I am trying to open a backup copy of my database but the program keeps asking me for the path of the images folder. If I try to click past it without giving it a path it says can't find A-Z folder and closes. Is there anyway to just open the database without the images folder as I do not have that available and I need to access the database.

Thanks

If you are using the built in backup tool, simply check the 'Exclude image folder in backup or restore'.

If your backup has the images folder on it, just use that. Browse to it from the window that says it can't find the folder.

I don't have access to the images folder right now is there a way to "trick" open dental into thinking it's there so I can access the database? I don't need to view the data in the images folder

I am not sure if this will work.
Install the trial version, that will install this folder, and now restore your backup

Just check the last check box in the trial installer which will create a local OpenDentImages folder if you've already gone through installing MySQL and Open Dental.

When you've restored your backup and it asks you to point to the OpenDentImages folder, you can either change the global path to the dummy folder you just created OR set a local path override. Both will do the trick.

The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit.
