When ins. pays via credit card instead of check

Staff is telling me that when insurance is paying via a simulated credit card (paper printout with a number you run through your credit card machine), they are having difficulty entering payment by procedure. Typically they enter payment by procedure, then enter the check. Since there is no button for CC payment analogous to the enter check button, how should they enter the CC payment? If they use the payment button, they can input the payment amount but it will not be by procedure.

When you get a credit card voucher from an insurance company have your staff call the insurance and ask them to reissue a check...you do realize when you run it through your credit card processer your are paying a credit card processing fee and percent of the already low insurance payment right?

This is a very popular feature request (#1365) that will most likely be one of the next enhancements we will make. It's hard to determine when exactly we'll get time to start working on it.

SEND IT BACK. tell them you dont have a way to key in credit card payments and you have already discounted your fees for the insurance payment and you will not pay for the credit card fees.

We've gotten one credit card payment so far and we sent it back and demanded a check. They grumbled about it taking longer to pay us but sent the payment out via check. We accept credit cards in our office as a convenience for our patients, NOT for the insurance companies.

Direct Deposit is the way to go.
I started setting it up. So far doing it with MetLife & Aetna. You just need to go on to their website to download the EOB's and enter the payments in OD.
MetLife's website is very easy to navigate and to see your 20 most recent claims or pretreatment estimates (no matter how far back they go), with just two clicks from log-in. Also, there is a tab where you can switch views from claims to pretreats with one click, no need to reenter search criteria.
Aetna's is a little more of a pain to navigate, requiring several additional clicks to get where you want to be. You can only search for a given 31 day time frame, and if you want to switch from claims to pretreats or back, you have to re-enter all your search criteria.
Will give Cigna a try next.

Agreed. We use direct deposit for all the companies whenever possible.
No more looking for the mailman. Saves trips to the bank.

sounds great, but does this leave you open to insurance companies going back into your account for 'overpaid' claims? I am all for Direct deposit, but I hate to think that they can do the reverse...

If you get the ACH company ID for withdrawl then you can put a block on automatic withdrawls while leaving automatic deposits in place.
