Automatically associate a code

Is it possible to have the abutment code (D6057) automatically get entered when the dentist chooses an abutment supported crown? I tried entering the D6057 code in the edit procedure code window under Alt Code, Medical Code and Ins. Subst Code for code D6062 but after entering D6062 as a treatment plan or completed code they D6057 abutment code doesn't get added to the chart.

Open Dental does not have that sort of functionality. Something you could do is set up automation so that a popup comes up reminding you to add D6057 when D6062 is scheduled on an appointment.

There are existing feature requests to add an automation trigger for a newly treatment planned procedure (3614) and to add an action to create a procedure (3669). You can add your votes to these feature requests to move the implementation along.

It can be done if you make a procedure button for the two codes.

1. Go to Setup procedure Buttons.
2. Add Procedure button Abutment and Crown.
3. Add procedure codes D6057 and D6059, add an icon for it if you want.

You can do this for every type of crown you usually make.

What Jorge said. Create a Procedure Button.
