How to have a red "X" over missing teeth?

Our office would like to know how to put a red "X" over missing teeth. When we highlight the tooth and click missing, only the surface disappears. Thank you in advance.

This happens when you have Simple Tooth chart as your graphics mode. If you switch to DirectX or OpenGL, the whole tooth will disappear when you mark it as missing.
