Unable to sign remotely in O.D.

I have revisited this problem several times over the past 6 years, to no avail. I've tried it with all versions of Windows, from XP to Win 10 Pro, 32-bit & 64-bit.
I finally gave up trying with an HSB pad and I switched to a Topaz BSB signature pad, which is designed to work remotely.
I was in touch with Topaz tech support and followed all of their instructions. I am able to sign in other programs but still can't sign in an Open Dental signature box.

- I am on O.D. version 17.2.23
- My home machine (the client) runs on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
- My office machine (the server) also runs on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
- I am using Windows Remote Desktop Connection
- I am able to send a signature remotely to the Topaz Demo app.
- I am able to remotely open a PDF with Adobe Reader DC and sign it.
- I am able to remotely open a PDF with PDocSigner.exe and sign it.
- The problem must be with Open Dental and not with the Topaz pad or software.
Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be? A missing dll or something like that, perhaps?
Is anyone able to sign remotely using Windows Remote Desktop Connection?
