For various and sundry reasons, I decided to upgrade my windows xp home computer to windows vista home premium. I put my office opendental backup on this computer to verify that I have a good backup. Well, the restore button does not work on Vista. It says that it cannot stop the MySql service.

I can do a manual backup by copying the opendental folder and the opendentalimages folder to the vista computer and that works, but that is a lot of extra trouble. I wonder if that is a known bug, or is there a problem that just with my computer?

I have the same problem and I fix it in this way:
Go to the OD icon, right click mouse on properties and change the security level. Run as administrator always. It will appear like a shield (vista colors) on the side of the icon. Problem solved. I hope this info helps
